Fluoropolymers

Fluoropolymers are widely used in automotive, aerospace, semiconductors, electronics and common household appliances because of their unique non-adhesive and low friction properties as well as their superior heat, chemical and weather resistance and superior electrical properties compared with the other polymers.

DAIKIN has developed two exhaustive range of Fluoropolymers:

- POLYFLON Series, a variety of high-performance PTFE. Available in fine powder, molding powder or dispersion used for tubes, membranes, etc.

- NEOFLON Series, a complete array of melt-processable fluoropolymers such as FEP, PFA, ETFE, PCTFE, suitable for pipe, sealant, roofing, etc. 

POLYFLON PTFE M-Series

POLYFLON PTFE M-Series, molding powder series is a granular molded powder resin designed for compression molding.
This tetrafluoroethylene resin has excellent resistance properties toward heat and chemicals.
It also possesses weatherability, electrical characteristics of high frequency, nonadherence and slippeliness

Features
 
• The strong C-F bond exhibits heat resistance at continuous operating temperature of 260℃, inertness for almost all chemicals, and excellent electrical characteristics in high frequency.
• Coefficient of friction is so small that it can gain the excellent slipperiness.
• Surface energy is also so low that it can excel in water and oil repellence, nonadherence properties.
• It is an extremely pure resin because it is chemically inert and does not contain additives, plasticizers, etc.
• It has excellent flame retardancy (limit oxygen index 95%).

POLYFLON PTFE F-Series   

POLYFLON PTFE F-Series, fine powder series is a fine powder resin designed for paste-extrusion.
This tetrafluoroethylene resin has excellent resistance properties toward heat and chemicals.
It also possesses weatherability, electrical characteristics of high frequency, nonadherence and slipperiness.

Features
 
• It can be mixed with petroleum solvents and be used for continuous molding by paste extrusion since it easily fibrillates.
• The strong C-F bond exhibits heat resistance at continuous operating temperature of 260℃ and inertness for almost all chemicals.
• Suitable for high-frequency electric wires since both the dielectric constant and the dielectric loss tangent are small Coefficient of friction is so small that it can gain the excellent slipperiness.

POLYFLON PTFE D-Series

POLYFLON PTFE D-Series, dispersion series is a water-based dispersion designed for impregnation or coatings.
This tetrafluoroethylene resin has excellent resistance properties toward heat and chemicals.
It also possesses weatherability, electrical characteristics of high frequency, nonadherence and slippeliness.

Features
 
• Heat resistance at continuous operating temperature of 260℃, inertness for almost all chemicals and excellent weatherability.
• Coefficient of friction is so small that it can gain the excellent slipperiness.
• Surface energy is also so low that it can excel in water and oil repellence, nonadherence properties.
• Suitable for high-frequency boards since both the dielectric constant and the dielectric loss tangent are small with a perfectly symmetrical molecular structure.
• It has excellent flame retardancy (limit oxygen index 95%).
• Since it is an aqueous dispersion of nanoparticles, it can be impregnated and coated on glass cloths and other substrates.

PTFE D-Series has high heat resistance, excellent weather resistance, flame retardancy and low dielectric constant. It is used for building tent films, high-frequency substrates and cooking appliances.

NEOFLON PFA AP-Series

NEOFLON PFA AP-Series has excellent heat resistance, chemical resistance and weatherability, Optical property, Nonadherence, Flame retardant

It resembles PTFE but can be melt-molded. The high-purity PFA-SH series has made big achievements in the manufacturing process of semiconductors due to the low elution of fluoride ions and particles.
DAIKIN lines up product items of general grade and high purity grade.

NEOFLON FEP NP-Series

NEOFLON FEP NP-Series is a melt moldable fluoropolymer. It has excellent thermal stability, electric properties, abrasion resistance, and long-term weatherability, Optical property, Nonadherence, Flame retardant
It is widely used for the products of wire insulation, cable jackets, tubes.

• A copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene and hexafluoropropylene.
• It has a low dielectric constant and low dielectric loss tangent due to its low polarity molecular structure. It is used in the field of information technologies and communications by taking advantage of this characteristic.

NEOFLON ETFE EP-Series

NEOFLON ETFE EP-Series has the best mechanical strength and radiation-resistance among fluoropolymers.
It is melt moldable and exhibits excellent processability and mechanical properties with great thermal, chemical and electrical, permeability barrier properties.
It is used for applications that require both mechanical strength and thermal, chemical, and electrical properties.

Features
 
• A copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene and ethylene consisting of carbon, hydrogen and fluorine atoms.
• It has the highest mechanical strength among fluor resins.
• It has the best radiation resistance among fluor resins.
• Flame retardant (limiting O2 index 31 vol% EP-500 system, 50 vol% EP-600 system).
• It is not attacked by acids, alkalis or organic solvents.
• This molecular structure has a low polarity and exhibits a low dielectric constant and a low dielectric loss tangent.
• Melt molding methods are available such as extrusion molding, injection molding and compression molding.
• It has higher melt fluidity than the other fluororesins and is suitable for high-speed extrusion use.

NEOFLON ETFE EP-Series has higher melt fluidity compared with the other fluoropolymers. It is designed for a variety of melt forming methods.

NEOFLON PCTFE M-Series

NEOFLON PCTFE M-Series has an excellent mechanical property, especially hardness, and chemical resistance next to PTFE and PFA. Therefore, PCTFE has been widely applied to the semiconductor industries.
In addition, it excels in gas barrier properties, especially water vapor barrier which shows the best performance among the plastics.

• A melt processable resin of chlorotrifluoroethylene with physical and mechanical properties.
• Excellent mechanical properties, especially hardness.
• It is one of the best class water vapor barrier property among resins.

Applications

NEOFLON PCTFE M-Series is used in semiconductors, chemicals and electronic components. It is also utilized as component materials for cryogenic fluids.

Fluoropolymer Coatings

Fluoropolymer coatings remarkably improve or modify original properties of several surfaces. Daikin fluoropolymer coatings have solutions for giving heat resistance, chemical resistance, non-stick property and low friction.
Daikin has developed a variety of fluoropolymer coatings to meet customer expectations by making use of the expertise in fluorine technology. They were designed to be available for various substrates and applications such as :
- Cookware
- Bakeware
- Chemical resistant lining
- Automobile parts

Daikin's fluoropolymer coatings are categorized mainly 4 types.


a. Water based coating

These grades are water bone coatings excellent in non-stick property and corrosion resistance.
POLYFLON PTFE enamel coatings are composed of PTFE based water bone.
NEOFLON PFA / FEP dispersion types are the coatings dispersed with PFA or FEP.  

b. Solvent based coating

These grades are solvent base coatings with robustness, good adhesiveness and scratch resistance.
POLYFLON enamel coating is able to impart features of fluororesin with one component such as good adhesion to metal substrate and non-stickiness.


c. NEOFLON Coating Powder

Coating Powder are high performance materials made from fluoropolymer resins, which show excellent non-stick property and chemical resistance.
NEOFLON ETFE is excellent in processability and able to form a thick and non-stick film layer with electrical, mechanical and chemical strength.
NEOFLON FEP and PFA Coating Powder are low in melt viscosity and excellent in melt fluidity which can give a coating free of pinholes.
NEOFLON EFEP has a good processability and transparency with the fluororesin features and adhesiveness.


d. DAI-EL Latex Fluroelastomer coating

DAI-EL latex fluoroelastomer coating makes a thinner elastic film showing good heat resistance, oil resistance, chemical resistance and weatherability.
DAI-EL latex fluoroelastomer coating is suitable for a binder in fabric, surface modifier of elastic substrate.
DAI-EL latex fluoroelastomer coating is composed of waterbone type of coating and primer. 

Polymer Additives

DAIKIN's range of high-performance lubricants additives, anti-dripping modifiers, and processing aids allow for the processors and end-users to benefit from the properties of fluoropolymer in compounded materials. Blended in conventional polymers, they improve the final plastic or elastomer performances, facilitate their processing and increase processors yield.

a. POLYFLON PTFE micro-powders
DAIKIN POLYFLON PTFE micro-powders can be added to polycarbonate and polyamide, as well as other plastics, to improve wear and to reduce the coefficient of friction. PTFE micro-powders can also be blended with fluorocarbon or silicone oils to form very high performance lubricants and greases. PTFE based greases have extremely low friction, a wide operating temperature range, and a much longer usage life than conventional greases.

b. POLYFLON MPA anti-dripping additive
DAIKIN POLYFLON MPA anti-dripping additive can provide UL94 V0 (US Plastic flammability standard) for polycarbonate and impact modified polystyrene.

c. DAIKIN PPA polymer processing aids
DAIKIN PPA Polymer processing aids are specifically designed for use in blown and cast film extrusion, but can also be used during wire and cable extrusion, sheet and pipe extrusion, blow molding, and during the manufacture of fibers. DAIKIN PPAs are designed for use in LLDPE, MLLDPE, HDPE, PEX, PP, PET, PBT, and PA. Benefits are reduced melt fracture, improved gloss, reduced gels, reduced die build up, faster color changes, reduced die pressure, lower extrusion temperature and overall higher productivity and quality.

Fluoropolymer Films

Fluoropolymer films are state of the art materials providing to parts or production processes outstanding chemical resistance, transparency, weather resistance, heat resistance, water absorption, electrical characteristics amongst others. a. NEOFLON PFA Films
NEOFLON PFA Films is a smooth unstretched film made of NEOFLON PFA polymer with melt extrusion.
It exhibits excellent heat and chemical resistance, nonadherence and inflammability. It is due to a molecular structure which consists of the main chain with carbon and fluorine atoms combining the perfluoroalkoxyl group.
It also possesses processability such as heatsealing, thermoforming, welding and heat bonding.

b. NEOFLON FEP Films
NEOFLON FEP Films is a smooth unstretched film made of NEOFLON FEP polymer with melt extrusion.
It exhibits excellent heat and chemical resistance, nonadherence and inflammability. It is due to a molecular structure which consists of carbon and fluorine atoms. It also possesses processability such as heatsealing, thermoforming, welding and heat bonding.

c. NEOFLON ETFE Films
NEOFLON FEP Films is a smooth unstretched film made of NEOFLON FEP polymer with melt extrusion.
It exhibits excellent heat and chemical, mechanical resistance, nonadherence and inflammability.
It also possesses processability such as heatsealing, thermoforming, welding and heat bonding.

d. NEOFLON PCTFE Films
NEOFLON PCTFE Films excels in water vapor barrier, transparency, chemical resistance and electric insuration as a plastic film. It exerts optimal moisture prevention out of the plastics. Moreover, it has highly transparent value of Haze less than 1%.
It shows excellent durability to chemicals for a long time under solutions of acid, alkali and organic.
Wetting property is improved by applying corona treatment on one side of the film.
